Busy weekend, busy week coming up...

This was a nice low key weekend. Yesterday, Spencer had his first birthday party to go to for one of his neighbor friends. It was a Star Wars theme to boot so he was in seventh heaven for a few hours...

We weren't able to watch the Purdue/Arizona game, but we were able to listen to it through the internet. James and all his computer geekiness found a way to stream the game through the radio in the kitchen so we all didn't have to huddle in the office together. We won! Go Boilers!

Today we had the distinct pleasure in watching the Lions lose to 'da Bears BIG TIME with some friends. Actually, the game turned into a comedy after Joey threw interception after interception, after interception. Watch the highlights? No way! Once was painful enough!

Spencer starts school tomorrow. He is very excited about going, especially after seeing his classroom and meeting his teacher Friday night. It seems to be the perfect placement for him. (Hmmm...wonder why I never felt comfortable at any of the preschools I visited in Indiana!) Anyway, he will go Mon, Tues, and Wed in the afternoons. It will be a challenge for him to stay focused for 3 hours without his usual afternoon nap! But it will be very new and exciting for him!

Garrett is still a cutie! Of course! He likes to do the crab walk and get into everything his brother plays with! Baby toys? Not for him! Give him the big guy stuff! =)

A Bittersweet Day

Although I love it here in Washington, it would be perfect if we could still have our Purdue season tickets and go to games like we have done for the past 10 or so years.

Today was Purdue's season opener against Akron. Seemed very wierd not being at the game, not tailgating, not catching up with old friends, not yelling 1..2..3..4..first down!, not chanting "Boiler Up"...and even wierder eating breakfast while watching a game. However, Purdue still won, whether we were there or not. I am hoping we will be able to pick up most of the games on ESPN gameplan, but that remains to be seen.

I sure will miss our football weekends and visiting my alma mater!

Hail, hail to old Purdue
All hail to our old gold and black
Hail, hail to old Purdue
Our friendship may she never lack!

Ever grateful, ever true
Thus we raise our song anew
Of the days we spent with you
All hail, our old Purdue!

GO BOILERS!!!

So he tells me the important stuff....

I told James I would blog about what happened this morning, so I will be true to my word...=)

I got a call this morning from Michelle (a fellow midwesterner who moved out here for her husband's job with amazon) and she told me some great news! They are expecting in April! Not knowing if her husband wanted to do the honors to tell James, I asked if I could tell. She quickly assures me that James already knows!!! (Aaron had told him yesterday.) She can't believe that such a great piece of news would just simply slip his mind....

Well, in true James form, last night we actually DID talk about Michelle and Aaron and how they were going to come over to watch the Lions wallup the Packers on Sunday with us, have a cookout, etc... Period. That was all...

Hmmm....Let me think...what's more important?!? A Lions game that has NO bearing whatsoever on the future of our lives or our friends'....or the FANTASTIC news that friends are having a baby....Unbelieveable!!! =)

Finally my own blog...

Hello all!
After much harrassing, I have started my own blog...James will be very excited!

Being a long weekend, we decided to have a family outing. We went to Mt. Rainier National Park. There are lots of trails, turn off spots to enjoy the views, visitor stations, etc. An all day adventure. It was absolutely beautiful, although we aren't able to actually SEE the top of Mt. Rainier....too cloudy of a day. We definitely plan on going again, now that we know what to expect.

Tomorrow we are hoping to have friends over for a cookout so that will be fun! Other than that, not much else is happening. Both James' parents and mine have been out for a visit, and we are looking forward to all of them coming out again. We are almost all moved into the house. We have the office/scrapbooking room left to unpack, and somehow I just never seem to have the time to go through the last few boxes. We love our neighborhood, the neighbors, and the area in general, and we look forward to spending many years here.

We have made our plane reservations for Thanksgiving. We will be visiting both Indiana and Michigan so it should make for a fun, yet hectic week. We hope to see many friends and family back home, as well as a shopping trip to the outlet mall. =)

I hope you are all in good health and happy. Check back often...I will update often. I will attempt to add pictures later this weekend...
