Spencer's Special Week

Spencer has been waiting all year for his "Special Week" at preschool. He was up at 4 AM Monday morning, excited that it was FINALLY here! Here are some pictures of some of the things he did...

Garrett got to eat lunch in a big kid's chair next to his brother.

Spencer got to choose what song to sing during circle time. Here he is in charge of holding the flannel board while singing a color song about birds.

Due to Spencer's love of books and being read to, instead of making a poster, we put together a book for him, All About Me, which he narrarated. Because there wasn't a poster to put on the bulletin board he wrote his name on, of course, a red piece of construction paper.

His teacher was very impressed by his "teaching abilities" while reading his book to the class. He held it face out like a teacher does and then turned it side to side after reading the page so everyone got a chance to see the pictures.

Garrett even wanted in on the action of sitting in the "special chair" much to his brother's chagrin.

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood...

Spencer had his winter break last week and after making sure we were all healthy again, we embarked with our neighbors to the Children's Museum in Seattle. (And of course, we all have runny noses again! When will mommy ever learn?!?)

Anyway, they rotate one of their exhibits every two months or so...first Arthur, then the Magic School Bus, and now...Mister Rogers' Neighborhood! They even advertise for special "adult only" viewing times for those who want to relive memories. It was interesting. Lots to do, as usual, but some of it was set up like it would be for television. And for those of you who know Spencer, he was all about dressing up like Mister Rogers' himself, even down to the shoes!

(For those of you who haven't seen him in action, he changes his clothes/costumes/pajamas to go with whatever theme he happens to be playing at the moment...Buzz Lightyear, Mr. Incredible, Batman, Spiderman, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, General Grievous, and on and on...And will change his outfit generally 3-7 times a day! Yes, he definitely has an imagination!)

WW update...

Although not many may care, I thought I would share that I have been attempting WW again this year and am down another size! My neighbor across the street actualy pointed it out and told me I needed new jeans! Yea!

Right now I have a horrible cold so I am eating whatever sounds good, which isn't much. But once I feel better I will jump back on the WW train!

Current goals: down to pre-pregnancy weight by Spencer's birthday (mid May) and then down to goal weight by my birthday (mid August)

Will keep you posted....=)

Back to Gymboree and more...

We started taking a sibling class at Gymboree; Spencer still enjoys it even being 4!
Garrett loved climbing on the equipment and dancing and clapping to the music.

Parachute time! Take me for a ride, big brother!
The bridge continues to be a favorite for Garrett!
Spencer has started doing Brain Quest with Garrett! "Mommy, he won't listen to me!?!"

My little man outside...

The sun has been shining for about a week now so Daddy finally broke out some of the more summer type toys.
I got up here all by myself!
Watch out for me this summer!!!!

Some Pics of Garrett's Birthday...

Opening presents all by himself!

Unlike his brother, Garrett dove right in...two fisted!

And even tried eating the cake with a fork!

Can I have more mama, please?!?

A while in between blogs...

I blog today with a heavy and sad heart. A couple weeks ago we found out that the daughter of one of our tailgating friends has a tumor on/around her optic nerve. At first they weren't going to do surgery, but after further exploration and testing they determined that the tumor was actually above the nerve and a surgery date was set for the 10th. The surgery went as well as to be expected--they got most of it--but there is a high probability that she has lost sight in her right eye.

I look at my own two boys and thank God that they are happy and healthy. I haven't blogged in a while. Part of that is guilt. I know of someone else in my MOPS group that has a friend whose son has neuroblastoma, yet another type of cancer. These kids are under the age of 2! And here I am, saddened by the fact that my little Garrett is growing faster than I want, while there are so many little ones his age going through a variety of life-threatening illnesses. He's one now and practically running! Wrestling with his brother is probably one of his favorite past times. Saying mama, dada, duck, dog, ni-ni...such a little man! And then there's Spencer getting ready to head off to kindergarten in a few months! Such bittersweet moments in the lives of parents!

I guess I just ask for your prayers for little Paige. You can visit her website at caringbridge.org and her page name is paigejames.

Enjoy the little ones in your life...how precious they all are!
